Construction in China: Understanding Integrated Platform Software in Construction

Intelligent construction software systems integrate theories of engineering construction, organizational theory, accounting, statistics, mathematical models, economics, and information technology, influencing the interaction between the organizational structure and personnel involved in engineering implementation. Therefore, intelligent construction software systems typically utilize integrated platform software, integrating intelligent construction technology and information generated during software application processes.

 

Examples of integrated platform software include BroadLink BIM5D, Yunjianxin 4D-BIM, Autodesk BIM 360, Bentley ProjectWise, Trimble Vico Office, and Dassault ENOVIA. These software applications facilitate processes such as progress tracking, cost management, quality control, safety measures, and engineering document management.

 

Integrated platform software integrates management systems for various individual business operations. General functionalities include:

 

1. Data Processing Functionality

Involves engineering data collection and input, data transmission, storage, data processing, and output.

 

2. Predictive Functionality

Utilizes modern mathematical, statistical, and simulation methods to predict future engineering conditions based on past project data.

 

3. Planning Functionality

Plans various functional departments reasonably according to provided engineering constraints, offering different management plans and corresponding reports based on different management levels.

 

4. Control Functionality

Monitors the execution of construction plans based on data provided by various functional departments, compares execution with the plan, and analyzes the reasons for any differences.

 

5. Decision Support Functionality

Uses various mathematical models and stored construction data to derive optimal or satisfactory solutions to construction-related problems promptly. This aids construction management personnel at multiple levels in making decisions to achieve rational use of human, financial, material, and information resources, aiming for significant economic benefits.
